Apple?s iPhone 5S might include a slow motion video recording mode. According to code found hidden in iOS 7, the new feature, referred to as Mogul, will let users record video at 120 fps. It?s unclear what resolution the mode would record video in, but the mere mention already has us dreaming up the possibilities. Unfortunately, due to supposed hardware restrictions, Apple wants to keep Mogul an iPhone 5S-only affair.

Many popular action cams today provide slow motion options, while Samsung?s recent Galaxy S4 also includes a similar feature. As often is the case, shooting at 120 fps means capturing a lower resolution video, so that?ll definitely be a point of interest if Mogul becomes a staple of the iPhone 5S.

Apple?s iPhone has become one of the most widely used picture-taking devices in the world, so it?s not particularly unexpected for Apple to further push its limits. We?ve seen Apple include big features in ?S? phone releases in the past?Apple?s iPhone 4S got Siri and an 8-megapixel camera, for example. The iPhone 5S might also improve its camera while getting Mogul as the flagship software feature.

9to5Mac attempted to activate Mogul on the iPhone 5, an excellent shooter in its own right, but it wouldn?t work. However, code exists inside the iOS 7 beta that suggests the feature is incoming. When the iPhone 5S hits later this fall, you can bet Apple will talk all about it onstage.
