Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III was knocked out of Sunday's game with a mild concussion, coach Mike Shanahan said.

Griffin III didn't know what the score was or what quarter the game was in when he was taken to the locker room, Shanahan said.

Griffin was relieved by rookie Kurt Cousins, who threw a 77-yard touchdown pass to Santana Moss but was intercepted late in the fourth quarter to curb a comeback bid.

The Falcons won 24-17. Running back Michael Turner scored on an 13-yard run late in the fourth quarter and the Falcons improved to 5-0 for the first time in franchise history.

The Redskins (2-3) fell for the eighth straight time at home.

Matt Ryan was 34 for 52 passing for 342 yards. He threw a 1-yard touchdown passes to veteran tight end Tony Gonzalez to tie the game at 7-7 just before halftime. Ryan also hit Julio Jones with an 18-yard back-shoulder catch in the front corner of the end zone to give Atlanta a 14-10 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Matt Bryant booted a 53-yard field goal to tie the game with 7:42 to play. Washington opened the scoring on a 26-yard interception return for a touchdown by Ryan Kerrigan, the second of his career.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Gonzalez's touchdown was the 98th of his career, tying him with Don Hutson on the all-time list. ...Washington's Alfred Morris finished with 115 yards on 19 carries. ...The last time Atlanta was 4-0 it went to the NFC Championship Game. ...Ryan entered the game the NFL's highest-rated passer at 112.1.
